Tartankiwi Teaches

I am excited to tell you that I will be getting back in the classroom and teaching foundation paper piecing at a number of events this year. It will be fun to share my skills and introduce more of you to the joys of foundation paper piecing. I really hope that you will be able to join me.

I will be at the Australian Machine Quilting Festival in Adelaide from 10 - 13 February 2022. Come and join one of my classes:

1. INTRODUCTION TO PAPER PIECING: This class is for people with no previous experience of foundation paper piecing. We will look at how to prepare for success and then we will walk through the steps involved in paper piecing. If you get to grips with a few basics, the world opens up and you will be able to tackle more complicated projects and achieve really stunning results.

2. FUSSY CUTTING IN PAPER PIECING: This is a class for those who have mastered the basics of foundation paper piecing, but want to improve their skill and accuracy. We will look at how to join your pattern pieces accurately, how to use directional prints and how to fussy cut.

3. PLUNGE INTO PAPER PIECING DESIGN: People often ask me how I learnt to design patterns. The simple answer is that I taught myself. There was a lot of trial and error, a lot of missteps and a lot of learning from my mistakes. I'd love the chance to share what I have learnt and to spare you some of the frustrations. If I'm honest, this is my absolute favourite class to teach. The last time that I taught it, I came away super motivated and inspired. We will walk through a series of exercises which will show you the logic of paper piecing, we will discuss some of the many

I will share details of the next teaching gigs as they become available. In the meantime, I am gathering interest in online classes. If you would like to learn from me but aren't based in New Zealand or Australia, then please sign up here and I will keep you posted when the first class is released. It is likely that the first classes will be small and reduced in price, so get in at the ground level if you're interested.
