IN FLIGHT- Block 2- Swift

Wow! Time is flying by at the moment!
Its hard to believe that two weeks have gone by since I released the first in flight pattern. How did you find the swan?

Are you ready for the next one?

This time we have a swift gracefully flitting between the rooftops.

The patterns is now available in my payhip store, or you can buy it directly using the button below:

Alternately, you can buy the complete bundle of 13 patterns from my payhip store or using the following button:

Again, I think that that the swift pattern isn't too challenging. There are a couple of small pieced by the head and beak but don't be intimidated by these.

Take your time and don't cut your fabric too small.
The pattern has been improved since I made my version- can you tell?

Don't forget to come back here in a weeks time for the first linky party and your first chance to win a beautiful Oakshott cotton charm pack. You will get one entry in the draw per finished block, it doesn't matter whether these are entered as a single blogpost or separate posts.

On a slightly different note, I just wanted to point out that the birds in the layout diagrams that I produced do not all necessarily point in the same direction as the birds in the pattern. To be honest, those diagrams were thrown together very late at night and if I had had to be exactly precise I'm not sure if they would ever have been made.

It never really occurred to me that people would follow them exactly, as the birds can be inserted into the quilt in so many different ways. This Swift for example is spiralling upwards in the diagram above, but is diving downwards in the diagram below. Both are totally acceptable ways of using the bird.

I am very sorry if this has confused anyone or mucked up their layouts. If I ever do another QAL or BOM I promise to pay more attention to this aspect of the pattern writing...
