I'm working on a few things at the moment, but unfortunately most of them are not in a state that I can share them on here yet. In the meantime, here's another pattern update...
You may or may not have noticed that I have not yet uploaded my kiwi pattern to my Craftsy store.
You may or may not have noticed that I have not yet uploaded my kiwi pattern to my Craftsy store.
It was my first pattern and bears a special place in my heart.
I am, however, very aware that as my first pattern there are some details that weren't designed as well as they could have been.
I noticed that even when experienced paper piecers made my kiwi there were often problems in the leg area. It was difficult getting everything to line up properly when joining the sections. I felt that this was largely my responsibility as the designer of the block and I wanted the chance to improve the pattern.
I have been waiting for a quiet moment to go back to the pattern and I finally found it the other day. After a fair bit of head scratching, I managed to alter the pattern and then the wonderful Leonie kindly offered to test it for me (shhh, I think she's caught the paper piecing bug!- hee hee!).
Now my only problem is that I'm not sure whether everything lines up so well because Leonie is such a careful and accurate sewist, or because of the improved pattern!
I think (hope) we can share the credit!

You can find the updated kiwi pattern in my Craftsy store.
I'm working on my next NZ native bird pattern... can you guess what it'll be?
Today's the last day of the Matariki Crafting Linky. Make sure that you link up your winter projects!

Oh Juliet! You have crazy talent lady and the credit is all yours! I feel very privileged to be entrusted with it - the girls and I adore our Kiwi! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat improvements. The feet look great. Leonie has made another stunning block. Well done to you both!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved this pattern :-). Maybe a Tui or Kea is on the list for future??
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute pattern. I admire anyone who has the creativity to actually write a pattern, let alone a paper-pieced pattern!
ReplyDeleteLove those new feet! And Leonie's version is lovely. Now wouldn't a fantail be fun...?!
ReplyDeleteSuper love this pattern. I think it's how I found your blog in the first place :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the feet do look great :)) Should I be worried to get started in paper piecing? I get very addicted!!
