Life continues to be busy, but in a good way.
The Make Cafe is now open and I am loving my work in the fabric shop. Its a steep learning curve for all of us (please forgive me if you come in and I can't answer your questions yet!). There is so much to learn, but each day I am discovering new things and finding my place more and more.
I'm loving talking to people about their creative projects and making suggestions as to fabrics that they might love.
I'm loving seeing their faces light up as they enter the shop and then again as we tell them about all the exciting things going on.
I'm loving handling all the beautiful fabrics. Its amazing how fabrics that I wouldn't look at twice online are suddenly all the more tempting when you can feel how soft they are and appreciate the true vibrancy of the colours.
I'm loving how absorbed the kids are by the toys in the play corner, allowing their parents to relax and shop in peace and quiet.
My favourite moment today was talking to an old lady who was positively glowing with excitement as she handled the fabrics. She told me that in recent years she has been unable to craft for various reasons, but being in the Make Cafe she felt that she "had her old life back". I almost welled up in tears hearing her say it! When she left she promised that she'd be back- I look forward to seeing her again, I feel certain that she has lots of wonderful stories to share.
This week I must admit that I've taken a bit of a break from sewing. Its been good, but never worry, I've got plans... I hope to have something fun to share soon.
