I had fun reading what you would all carry in your sewing kits, and to be honest, it helped me to decide what to make. You see, I realised that most people intended to keep it pretty minimalist. They didn't want to carry a huge bags, just some thread, some needles, some pins and some thread (I was amazed by the number of people who didn't mention a quick unpick- my most trusted and most used bit of sewing equipment!)
To be honest I was a bit bored of making these sewing kits, and its been AGES since I have sewn a zip, so I decided to make a customised zippy purse.
As the case isn't too big, I didn't want to limit accessibility by adding pretty tabs to the zip, but I also didn't want it to have ugly zip ends. So I decided to try out this tutorial for avoiding dented corners. Just look at that zip, isn't it beautiful!
The pattern was made up as I went along incorporating elements of lots of different purses that I have made in the past (my favourite kind of sewing!)- I'm pretty pleased with it.
Inside there is a special pocket for a pair of embroidery scissors and on the outside there is a bigger pocket for whatever you would like.

Gorgeous set! Congrats Kelli, you lucky thing!
ReplyDeleteI love your pouch - after travelling this year (just a quick trip across the ditch) I realised I needed a minimilised bag like this too - the bigger one I used for my stitching took up too much room in my carry-on luggage. Yours is a lovely design.
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely set you have designed. Well done.
