For anyone who is interested, the market was fun. I sold enough to cover my costs and a little bit extra, but definitely didn't make my millions. I really enjoyed meeting people and chatting with them. Thank you to everyone who came over and said hello.
I have to admit that I have spent the last couple of months stressing about which block to choose for the Modern Sampler Bee Round two. I put all kinds of pressure on myself worrying that my block wouldn't live up to people's expectations. In round one, I was a complete quilting novice and was chuffed to bits to successfully create my blocks. This time I have a bit more experience, so have higher expectations for myself.
When I finally found a block that I loved, I had a trial run and made all kind of mistakes! It drove me nuts! I decided that making a further 6 of these block would not be good for my sanity, so I shelved the idea.
I kept my eyes out for another block that I would love to do for the bee, BUT at the back of my mind, the original block was still calling and a month or two on I persuaded myself that I would not repeat the same mistakes second time round.
Hmmm, I may have been a wee bit optimistic, and my quick unpick has been used a fair bit, but I haven't pulled out any of my hair and as long as I don't work when I'm too tired (or distracted by young children!) the results are definitely improving.
So far I've completed three blocks. I love how the different colours and fabrics make each block look completely individual. I am also enjoying playing around with the fabric placement.
I'm not sure that I absolutely nailed the fabric choices for every block. Its a challenge working with unfamiliar colour pallets and trying to choose fabrics that I think that specific bee partners will like. I worked with the fabrics that I have and have to trust that the recipients will like what I came up with.
I hope I got it right, but as I say I'm second guessing myself like anything this time around!
Do you get nervous when sewing for other people?
I'm linking in with Lee over at Freshly Pieced today

ReplyDeleteI don't know that I could ever complete those! They look so intricate! With that said, though, I think my favorite is the one in the middle. :) Well done!
ReplyDeleteThey are stunning blocks!! I am so meticulous if the sewing project is for someone else and rather slapdash if it's for me ;-)
