I'm Loving Our Girl's Day Out

Last Sunday Rascal, Nin, Lala and myself went to the ballet- it was such a special day for us all.

Unfortunately, although Angelina Ballerina was travelling around the country, it by-passed Christchurch.

Nin and I talked about it and agreed that it was an amazing opportunity to take the girls to a child-friendly ballet and so after much dithering, we decided to attend the show in Timaru.

Its a drive of over two hours to get there, so we went prepared with yummy snacks, drinks, and stopping places planned along the route.

Lets just say that when we left home, Mr Tartankiwi was extremely relieved that he wasn't in the car- the little people in the back had switched their volume control to maximum! They had no idea what they were in for, but they knew it was going to be exciting!

After various short stops along the way, we stopped for lunch at the Shearer's Quarter. There was yummy food (I can totally recommend the kumara fritters), animals to pet, a mini golf course to be clambered all over and a climbing frame with a "big slide".

As for the ballet, it was magical. Rascal sat entranced and Lala got down from her seat and joined in with the tap dancing. Nin and I shared a few grins as we watched our girls soak up the music, the dancing, the costumes, the music and the atmosphere.

Here's a cheesy wee clip that I found on you-tube which will hopefully give you an idea of what the ballet was like.
Such a magical day, full of happy memories. I just love the ballet and I really hope that Rascal will continue to share this with me as she grows.

I can assure you that there were two four very tired girls in the car at the end of the day!

I'm linking up with Paisley Jade- Hop over and see what everyone else is loving today...

  1. what a neat experience for your girls- mine loved the Angelina show too. We don't get a lot of shows here- they usually go to Hamilton so we were very lucky to have one here for a change!

  2. oh what fun! Hannah would have LOVED to have been there!

  3. What a great trip to make! They would have loved it no doubt!

  4. Awesome! The show was in Dunedin last Friday, and I'd taken my boy out for a special lunch date...the cafe we were in was suddenly inundated with mums and little girls, excitedly talking about the ballet. They all seemed so thrilled and on such highs - so I can imagine how your little ones were :)

  5. That sounds like a perfect little girls day out to me, wonderful x

  6. Sounds like such fun - I was meaning to take our girls to that but somehow missed out!

  7. Great road trip. Sounds like a great day.

  8. What a great treat for both little girls and their mummas. x

  9. that is lovely! I can't wait to do the same with my lil girl one day :)
