My Creative Space- Fleece Mittens

Sometimes creative projects are born of necessity and this is one of them. With the snow whirling around outside, we had a little girl who was desperate to go out and play in the snow. Only thing was, that I could only find one pair of her mittens and they weren't very warm.

Experience has taught me that cold hands= miserable girl!

Luckily, a few weeks ago I found this tutorial on making fleece mittens. Which is perfect, as I have huge amounts of light blue fleece.

I decided to decorate the mittens and went with a fairly unisex pattern so that wee man will be happy to wear then when Rascal grows out of them. I am really really happy with my lion mittens. They are generous in size. This was deliberate as not only does this allow room to grow, but her thin mittens can fit underneath (extra toasty hands!)

And the verdict:
Warm hands most definitely make a happy girl!

  1. How cute is she and how gorgeous are those mittens.

  2. Such a good make! Well done :)

I've seen so many photos of people building snowmen with socks on their hands wrapped in plastic bags!

These are definitely way cooler :)

  3. They are very VERY cute! Great job :)

  4. Oh those mittens are just too darn cute for words.

Your rascal may not want to pass them on when she she grows out of them they look so nice and warm.........

Thanks for linking up at Tea-Time Thursdays @ Kreative Korner. Your post added to the celebration. Party for this week is going on now. Hope to see you there.

  8. Oh wow - these are fantastic! Lucky Rascal :)

  9. My oversized (but sadly not handmade) mittens totally saved my life this winter, it helps so much to be able to put another layer under them!

These mittens are fabulous, the lion is just amazing. Awesome work! :D
