Isn't it funny how the internet sometimes sends you on journeys of discovery.
It all started when Miriam posted about homemade peanut butter. I had never come across the idea of making your own and loved the results.
A wee while later Mrs Cake, went on an economy drive and lamented the fact that she had to buy cheaper (yucky) peanut butter. Without thinking I told her to forget buying peanut butter and make her own.
Now (as you would expect with a name like that) Mrs Cake is a bit of a whizz in the kitchen and so she had a bit of an experiment with the recipe. When she presented her findings there was a comment from someone who suggested using a similar method to produce chocolate almond paste.
Well I HAD to try making some of that and all I can say is YUMMMMMY! We made our first batch over the weekend and it certainly won't be our last!
SOOOOO good!
Oh and talking of really good food, I made some more Lemon Lovers Slice, but used Limes instead of Lemons (I guess that makes it Lime Lover's Slice)...
A-MAZ-ING!!!
If you thought the lemon slice was good, then honestly you've GOT to try it with limes!!!

My son went out and bought peanut butter from China the other day..I refuse to eat it..who knows what else it contains..and..we grow great peanuts here in Australia..why should we import something like peanut butter??? Sorry..it does upset me, I think every country should be able to get its own home grown produce and products cheaper than overseas stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh yum yum yum. That slice looks REALLY good
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. This whole post is making me really really hungry! I love the idea of home made peanut butter. My absolute best is an organic one with peanuts, oil and salt, nothing else. I have to ration myself. I think I am going to make my own!
ReplyDeleteBookmarking this recipe - imagine the goodness of home made presents this could make!
