Linked Squares

This pattern is perhaps one that you wouldn't expect from me.

Its not like the ones that I have come up with so far, as it was designed when I was first playing about with Quilt Assistant (the free software that I use for designing my patterns). My plan is to use it in my sampler quilt.

I must admit that I had a bit of a crisis of confidence after I finished it so I laid it aside and forgot about it, but recently I found it again, gave it a quick once over and sent it off to the pattern testers.

Although it was designed for the sampler quilt, I think that this block would make a great quilt in its own right, just look what happens what happens when you repeat the block. If you were to play with the colour of the lines the possibilities for this quilt become endless!

For me, a large part of the joy of designing blocks is seeing how other people interpret them. I love the drama of the Pam's interpretation. Didn't she do a great job pattern testing?

The Linked Squares pattern is available from my Craftsy Store.

For anyone still interested, here is the current collage of the sampler quilt. Please don't be fooled its not one square waiting to be completed but eight- I've decided that I need one extra row... grumble grumble!

I'm linking up with Show and Tell and Paper Piecing Party.

  13. This block is so interesting. Pam's interpretation is very dramatic - the black and the red and the shattered diamond effect - it reminds me of passion and anger combined.
