Its been all about hand sewing here recently.
My frustration with my sewing machine has grown so much that I'm ignoring it!
I want to get on and finish the quilting on the sunshine quilt, but I just don't trust the results that I'll get. So today I finally phoned a couple of places to find out about machine servicing, when I have a car (we're still down to one car and waiting on insurance companies- *yawn*) and the chance to drive about town, I'm going to drop if off for a long overdue service- can't wait to have it back and purring like a kitten!
In the meantime, I started a new English Paper Piecing project.
Rascal absolutely loves the lumpy EPP cushion that I made a few months ago. When she is tired, she grabs the tilda quilt and the lumpy cushion and curls up in a ball on the sofa. I think that part of what she loves about the cushion is the weight and the solidity that the fabric scraps stuffing gives the cushion, so this hexie cushion will be specially made for her and it will be stuffed with snippets of fabric off cuts.
This project started with a fat quarter or nursery versery fabric. I then paired it with three different shades of essex linen. Its taking shape really well. Soon I'll have to start thinking about a backing fabric... at the moment I have no idea what colour its going to be, so I hope inspiration strikes!!! I was initially thinking of a plain fabric, but if I can find the right (subtle) pattern, then I might go with that... anything could happen!
I can't wait to see Rascal's face when she sees the finished cushion!
If you are loving the nursery versery fabric as much as I am, then make sure that you enter my wee giveaway...
