WIP Wednesday- Red Riding Hood Needlecase

I normally keep my Wednesday posts exclusively for quilt stuff, but today I just had to show you this...

(its sort of relevant as its paper pieced and has my first halfway decent attempt at free motion quilting)

I had lots of fun making this needlecase. A little bit of paper piecing; a little bit of free motion quilting and a little bit of making the pattern up as I went along.

Don't you just love when an experiment pays off?
I love the way that the fussy-cut little red riding hoods look in the apple. I love the combination of fabrics. I love my (slightly wonky) stippling.

For this needlecase, I quilted the outer and added medium weight interfacing to the inner fabric, giving the cover some texture and structure. A cute woven ribbon with hearts was the perfect closure method.

There is a pocket for a pair of embroidery scissors in the back
and my usual pocket for a quick unpick and another random pocket for whatever the owner wants.
Hmmm might have to hand sew on another label, my experiment adding the label direct to the fabric didn't quite work
And in other news, the sampler quilt keeps growing...

Another bee block arrived in the post recently... Just look at this amazing block that Nin made for me- I LOVE it!

And here's an updated collage:

I'm linking in with WIP Wednesday

Oh and before you head off, have you entered my giveaway? There are vintage fabrics and a quilt pattern up for grabs...
