Snow and friendship

Ah the peace...

Two small children out in the snow having fun together.
First, cautious steps in the snow yesterday

Exploring the crunchy snow and the thick ice. The sun is shining brightly now and the thaw has begun. If it weren't for the black ice it would be the perfect day. The only sound I can hear is the sound of laughter.

As for me, I'm tucked up inside with a nice hot cup of tea. I could watch them playing for hours, its so good to see them turning into such fast friends. Old ice skating injuries of a broken wrist and then a broken ankle mean that I have no love of ice and snow, I'm fine just watching from inside!
ice thick enough to hold one small child- not two (oops!)
There'll be carnage soon as first Rascal and then Scallywag decide that they are too cold and one by one they come inside sobbing, requiring immediate removal of wet clothes, wrapping in nice warm quilts and to be given food and hugs by the bucket load- I can do that!
Even a layer of snow doesn't stop this small boy from helping to collect the feijoas!
I hope you are enjoying the snow in whatever way you can. And if its not snowing in your part of the world you are welcome to enjoy from a distance through my photos!

  1. I'm enjoying your snow from Taranaki and your shots are great! I was raised outside Chicago so snow is not a foreign idea to me--I just prefer to see it from afar :)
