KCWC- Day 3 - A Pinafore for Rascal

Oh what a beautiful day its been!

Almost too good to be stuck behind a sewing machine!

Lucky then that the finishing touches of this garment could be done by hand- first in our garden and then (much to Mr Tartankiwi's disgust) at the park.

The advantage of sewing at the park is that there are great places to hang your clothes for photos opportunities (Yes, I have no shame!)
I've used this pattern before and have added all the pockets and details that she suggests, but this time I kept it simple. I decided that the patterned cord fabric really does shout pretty loud and doesn't need any extra details.

I added quite a bit of extra length to the dress as the last one that I made looks like a miniskirt on Rascal these days. I must admit that I am as yet undecided whether it is too long and needs to be taken up. What do you think?

As for Rascal, she thinks she's in heaven with Mummy making all these new clothes for her. At the moment, this dress is her latest favourite item of clothing, but if I make anything else for her this week then I'm sure that the title will be transferred to that article of clothing!

Things could slow down a bit from now on as this is where my pre-prepared childrens clothes for KCWC come to an end. I have a plan for tomorrow, but I suspect that I'll only have a progress report to share tomorrow- we'll see what happens!

I'm joining in with Creative Spaces today.

  3. I think the length is great, allows her to move but also covers her up a bit too- I really love this pinafore- makes me wish I had a little girl to sew for!

  4. Very Stylish! Love the fabric, it really does pop by itself!
I think I would take the dress up another hem length..... you can always let it down again when she needs it.
I have a few dresses that I made for my girl last year, which I wish had done this, as this year they look so much better on.
Kids grow like weeds don't they!

  16. Gorgeous little pinafore!!! Such bright, fun fabric. Perhaps it's a tad too long, but she'll grow so quickly, it's not worth taking up.
