Tea Towel Tuesday- Plastic Bag Holder

Megan of Mousehouse has been encouraging bloggers to de-clutter and organise their homes as part of her Organised Home Challenge 2011, so I decided that I'd dedicate this weeks Tea Towel Tuesday to de-cluttering this kitchen drawer:

I really really try to avoid collecting plastic bags and always have an envirosax with me, yet somehow the drawer where we store plastic bags seems to slowly fills up until it is so full that it jams. I suspect that it may have something to do with the fact that I now have a toddler and a baby to distract me when shopping and before I know it I am being handed a plastic bag full of my purchases by a helpful shop assistant (I REALLY wish they would ask if you want a bag like they do in other countries!)

So this week I am making a plastic bag holder for Tea Towel Tuesday. I chose this tea towel for the project. It is relatively small and the fabric is a tighter weave than some tea towels:

I'm pretty pleased with the finished result and am confident that it will get lots of use. You can fit a surprising number of bags in! The challenge will be to find a place to hang it where Rascal can't empty it and spread the contents around the house.

  2. I already have one of these made by by mother-in-law and it's so useful.

Incidentally I was shopping last week and I saw a really pretty pack of tea towels and immediately thought of your Tea Towel Tuesdays. I just need to decide what to make them into now!

  8. I'm not very crafty or talented at sewing, but would love to make one of these. Can you tell me a little bit more how you sewed this?
