The humble tea towel

Although I am loving getting my sewing machine out, I am quickly discovering that crafting and sewing has one major disadvantage... its not always cheap! I have already had to ditch one planned project as it was just not economical and a couple of other projects are in danger if I can't find the right materials for the right price.

In searching the web looking for cheap inspiration, it began to occur to me just how economical and versatile the humble tea towel can be.

I thought it might be fun to have a mini series of posts dedicated to the humble tea towel. I'd love it if you join in with me and show what great items you can make.

Anybody going to join me? First post in the series coming on Tuesday... Tea towel Tuesday !?!

  1. I saw something like these recently in a magazine whose name escapes me ... http://www.suziestanford.com.au/furniture%20tea%20towels.htm. Thought you would love.

  2. I also wanted to say that everything doesn't have to cost a packet. Check out your local op shop for wonderful finds from old tablecloths to perle cottons!

  3. Definately go opshopping for fabric, sheets, pillow cases, curtains, blankets, even clothes that can be recycled or upcycled into new items. I am a big believer in the recycle of old clothing. That's what my charity is all about. Check it out at www.sewitforward.co.cc

I'll be joining in, think I'll make an apron for Dex, can never have too many when he's still getting the hang of feeding himself :)

  4. Cool idea having a mini series about the tea towel. I have just made a tea towel apron for Miss 2's 3rd birthday as I could not find a cheap enough apron that I liked and buying a cool tea towel set was cheaper than buying the material :)
