The Finger Puppets are well received

Today wee man, Rascal and I were out and about town doing some errands. At a certain point we had to waste 20 minutes and instead of the drama of dragging a tiring Rascal around the shops, I decided to drop into a cafe for a coffee and a fluffy.

On reaching our table, I discovered that I had all the finger puppets in my bag, so I took them out one by one as a distraction for Rascal. As each new puppet made its way out of the bag, Rascal got more and more excited. She is obviously far more astute than her father as she had no doubt that there were two monkeys and not a monkey and a bear!In fact the only puppets that she had any difficulty in recognising were the penguin and the kiwi (both of which she has not really come across much). The penguin has been designated a black owl baby which hubby was pretty impressed with!

The girls in the cafe had quite a laugh at the wee girl with messy blonde ringlets loudly making excited animal noises each time that a new animal finger puppet was produced!!!

When we got home, I gave her all the finger puppets and a small biscuit tin to store them in. I can tell that we are going to have hours of fun playing with these. At the moment there will be lots of animal noises, but as she gets older we can make up stories and do little puppet plays.

  1. That is so neat that your daughter was really interested in the puppets and making the animal sounds - especially because you made them. Great way to keep her occupied when out too :) Sometimes my kids aren't initially interested in the things I make for them so it is always nice when they are!

  3. I've just discovered your lovely blog and those cute little finger puppets. They look fantastic, I don't think I would have the patience to make them. We have a heap from Ikea and my kids, 4 and 5 years old, are really into them at the moment. I hadn't thought about taking them to keep them amused at coffee shops. Thanks for the tip.
